It starts...

Every blog must have some sense of wit, or intelligence, or some kind of content that will interest people -- or some combination thereof. The first post in that blog must be very much one of those things; it is an unwritten rule that maybe you can look up, but being unwritten, maybe you can't.

Nonetheless, self-awareness is a good source of wit, and I've always been a fan of it. However, in search of writing the most witty thing ever using self-awareness alone has led me in a strange, recursive cycle: "I'm not witty, but my blog is," is witty because it's self aware, so does it follow that more self awareness leads to more wit? "I'm aware that saying, 'I'm not witty, but my blog is' makes me witty, but really, I'm not witty," is evidently even more witty, despite (or maybe because of) its self-awareness. I could go on down this path forever (or at least until I expire from one ailment or another), and naively think that perhaps I am achieving the most sublime, witty sentence ever to grace the paper of a mere mortal man ... but of course, further out, other factors will govern the measure of wit, such as readability, attention span, page length, conditioning / desensitization, and whether or not this so-called godhead-of-wit sentence should be used as a torture device to punish terrorists when waterboarding has failed. In short, it's bullshit.

If you were able to follow all of that, then maybe this blog is for you. I'm basically focusing this blog on stuff dealing with creating in the arts and sciences. Quantum physics, quantum field theory, grad-level mathematics, education, art, music, animation, computer programming, business, love, writing, usability, storytelling, engineering, invention, and other topics that can lead a person to increase the amount of awesomeness in the world are all fair game here. Happy reading.
